What will you give your attention to?

REFLECTION

Spring nudges in, darkening the loam with rain. Like worms stirring in the tender soil, our attention awakens. We push through the softened earth and emerge at the hour of the equinox, into days of equal sun and fattening moon. Crossing the equator, the sun returns our clear-eyed gaze. What will you attend to, and in attending to it, love? Let the sweetness of your attention be drawn as though by the sun’s warmth, returning you to the work that matters.

INVITATION

Think of a beloved friend or family member. Write three sentences describing what you love about this person. Read the letter out loud, changing the pronouns from she, he, or they to you. Notice what it feels like to turn your attention toward yourself, and to hear these words of love.

POEM

For

the first time the sun kissed my own naked face and my soul

was inflamed with love for the sun, and I wanted my masks no

more.

- Kalhil Gibran, “How I Became a Madman”
